The Society of Neuromuscular Sciences Incorporated (SONS Inc) Australia is a Not For Profit Organisation of medical professionals from a wide spectrum of practices including General Practitioners, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, Orthopaedics, Colorectal Surgery, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Musculoskeletal Medicine, Forensics, Urology and ENT as well as allied medical health professionals who love to attend Winter Conferences overlooking the slopes in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
From its inception, SONS has encouraged its members of various medical professionals to gather for professional education and enrichment in a relaxed atmosphere.
From 1974 until 2023, the Thredbo Conference Centre has provided the perfect venue for the SONS annual conference held in August every year. From 2024 the southern hemisphere conference moved to New Zealand. It continues to be a unique opportunity for doctors from different backgrounds but common interests, to learn and develop their skills and knowledge.
Of course it is also a rare opportunity to network with others across professional and geographic boundaries to foster new business and interpersonal relationships in a convivial environment.
The conference has attracted a wide variety of highly experienced speakers of surgical, medical and related medical fields. Such is the enthusiasm and demand for the SONS Conference in Japan in the northern hemisphere, began in January 2006 attracting even larger numbers to Niseko and now Rusutsu.
Attendee numbers to Japan have grown considerably, attracting families from across Australia. Often registrations have to be closed early as capacity set by the Venue has been reached.
